UConn was my safety school I applied with my generic essay like a couple weeks before it was due and got the acceptance package a couple weeks later (sooner than some of my classmates...weird). I got into all the schools I applied for but chose UConn because it was the cheapest and that year 2000 both the men and women's basketball teams won the NCAA championships so that also helped me decide to go.

I had a resume that included involvement in high school clubs, a part-time, year round job, and also consistent community service involvement over my four years at high school.

I also spent a good chunk of my summer before my senior year working on my essay, because I was told that it's a huge part of the selection process.
